Measuring our Impacts

Deliver positive impacts.

Measuring the impact of long-term goals like sustainability can often be a challenge. Close and constant attention helps to understand the effectiveness of our standards and keep us focused on what matters.

To understand the effectiveness and the impact of our work within the jewellery supply chain, we have established a monitoring and evaluation programme. An overview of our programme is available in our M&E Systems Report.

Theory of Change: Roadmap to 2030 and Beyond

The 2030 Roadmap was developed in 2020 to celebrate RJC’s 15 years of legacy. This coincided with the ‘Decade of Action’, a call from the UN Secretary-General to mobilise on the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help deliver the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

The 2030 Roadmap details how members can harness the business benefits of the SDGs. It provides a framework for our industry with respect to the most impactful contributions members can make through their supply chains and provides attainable pathways to collectively contribute to the SDGs.

RJC’s 2030 Roadmap was put out for extensive public consultation and stakeholder feedback. RJC would like to thank all stakeholders for their valuable feedback and contributions on the consultation drafts. We analysed all responses and updated the 2030 Roadmap and supporting metrics to reflect stakeholder comments.

Performance monitoring

Performance monitoring is a key component of our M&E system. It focuses on systematic collection and analysis of data from members throughout their certification journey, to evaluate whether the desired outcomes outlined in the Theory of Change are being achieved. The Indicator Protocol outlines all the indicators being used in the M&E System that enable us to track performance.

Annual research

Periodically we undertake in-depth evaluations, often in collaboration with strategic partners, to provide a deeper and/or broader perspective of our impact and progress. For full transparency of results, we commit to publishing the full evaluation report once the research project has concluded.
